SANDOWN/HAMPSTEAD – When the clock struck 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, both Hampstead and Sandown had town government still had seats that no one had signed up for.
In Hampstead there are two 3-year term Budget Committee seats with no candidates.
In Sandown it there is a Trustee of the Trust Fund seat remaining without a candidate.
In Hampstead there is one race on the Town side with two candidates seeking one Board of Selectman seat and on the School District side three candidates seeking two School Board seats.
– Hampstead –
Hampstead incumbent Sean Murphy threw his name in again for the one open seat on the Board of Selectmen. Also running will be David Yasenka. Yasenka is the Director of Isaiah 57 and the former Pastor of the Lutheran Triumphant Cross Church in North Salem. He will be a newcomer to town government.
Other candidates that signed up before the Friday dealine in Hampstead include incumbent Patricia Curran for Town Clerk/Tax Collector for the single, 3-year term seat; incumbent Harold Williams for the one , 3-year term Town Treasurer seat; incumbents Robert Waldron and Dean Howard Jr. for the two, 3-year Planning Board seats; incumbent Natalie Gallo for the Library Trustee 3-year term seat; incumbent Terry Sullivan for the three-year term Trustee of Cemeteries seat; incumbent Gustav Khambatta for the 3-year term Trustee of the Trust Funds seat; and Andrew Weir who signed up for the single, 1-year term seat on the Budget Committee.
No one signed up for the two, 3-year term seats on the Budget Committee. There are currently two sitting members of the Budget Committee, Emily Reschberger and Steve Londrigan.
On the Hampstead School District side, there is one a race with incumbent Wayne Dinsmore, Jim Sweeney and Cathleen Abuzzese all signed up for the two, 3-year term seats on the Hampstead School Board. Abuzzese finished out the term vacated last year when Jay Dimando resigned.
Caitlin Parnell signed up for the single, one-year term seat on the School Board. Neil Reardon, incumbent, signed up for the three-year term Moderator seat; incumbent Laura Jones signed up for the three-year term District treasurer seat; and, incumbent Nancy Lacasse signed up for the one, three-year term District Clerk seat.
– Sandown –
In Sandown there is a race for the two Board of Selectmen seats on the five-man board. There are five candidates for the two, 3-year term seats. Candidates are incumbents James Devine and Cynthia Buco as well as Stephen Brown, Bruce Cleveland (former Town Moderator) and John Quevillon.
Other candidates who signed up in Sandown include incumbents Paul D’Amore, Dennis Giangregorio and Fire Chief Wilfred Tapley, all of who signed up for the three, three-year term Fire Engineers seats; Kevin Major signed up for the single, 1-year term Moderator seat; Erik Dykeman, currently an Alternate on the Planning Board, signed up for the one, 3-year term Planning Board seat; Stephen Winter signed up for the one, 3-year term Cemetery Trustee seat; and, incumbent Diane True signed up for the one, 3-year term Library Trustee seat. No one signed up for the one, 3-year Trustee of the Trust Fund seat.
Voting will take place at the Hampstead and Sandown Town Meetings held on Tuesday, March 14.
