HAMPSTEAD – The coaches of the Hampstead Association of Softball and Baseball (HASB) U8 softball teams will tell you that what you see by June is quite different from what you would have seen at the start of the spring season. The age 8 and under girls grew in skill and understanding of the game and made both Michael Terrile, coach of the Blue U8 team, and Jamie Avenzino, coach of the Red U8 team, very proud.
The two U8 softball teams met for the last of their spring season games on the newly refurbished U8 Town Hall softball field Wednesday evening, June 8.
“After a fun few innings of softball, the teams celebrated the end of a successful season with a pizza party and dessert at the Hampstead Mothers’ Club ice cream social held at Hampstead Central School across Emerson Avenue,” Terrile said. “Players and coaches and their faithful supporters all wore smiles.”
Terrile said both Hampstead Red and Hampstead Blue have been enjoying the newly refurbished Town Hall softball field all season.
“Hampstead Association of Softball and Baseball made updating the field a priority last fall and began preparing for work in the spring,” he said. “The project was driven by HASB board members Terry Crump and AJ Boucher, with a lot of volunteer support and help. The field construction demanded a large and committed volunteer force. A few of the main volunteer contributors were Erhardt and Shallow Landscaping, Eric Schoenenberger, and Dave Murphy. But many others assisted in making the refurbished field a reality for the spring softball season.”
