SANDOWN – The Police Station construction committee has set a tentative deadline for the completion of the station in April of next year.
Police chief Joe Gordon along with the rest of the committee met with the selectmen at their Monday, July 28 meeting to discuss some of the next phases for the project. The group hopes to begin advertising for bids on Aug. 4, pending final review by legal counsel on the lengthy Request for Proposal.
Gordon said the committee has created a timeline for various portions of the project, and their meeting with the selectmen Monday for an update was part of that schedule.
Voters approved the purchase of the building and property at 460 Main St. at March town meeting and agreed to raise $125,873 to finish the saving they had done over previous years to pay for a new station.
Gordon has been routinely updating the selectmen on the station’s progress. Plans for the renovation of the former funeral home and apartment complex were recently completed.
