HAMPSTEAD – Many of the 93 eighth grade students at Hampstead Middle School who graduated June 18 received recognition and awards at a ceremony held the previous day, sandwiched in between a class breakfast and class luncheon.
Among the Graduation Day awards, the Dale Child’s Award for Leadership and Caring went to Anna LoPresti, president of the Student Council, who also was the runner-up for the Lions Club Community Service Award and received the HMS Leadership Award. LoPresti also received a Band award and recognition from the yearbook staff.
Mackenzie Finocchiaro, Student Council treasurer, received the Lions Club Community Service Award and awards in Spanish, Choral Music, Theater and from the Military Support Club.
Mason’s Magic Award, given by HMS teacher Katherine Muskrat and family in memory of their son, was given to Matt Fabrizio, and Noah Woodman received the Three R – Respect, Responsibility, and Relationships – Award.
The first Lynn Moquin Reading Award, given in memory of the late HMS reading teacher, went to Marlen Higgins, who also received recognition from the Military Support Club.
The Frankie Salafia Citizenship Award went to Lauren Thibodeau.
Academic awards were given in Math to Megan Aiello, Literature to Jessica Wilson, Reading to Alex Loeffler, Science to Jack Spyvee, Social Studies to Matt Schumacher and Writing to Lauren Humphrey.
Unified Arts awards included: Art to Laura Griffin and Mike Gorman; Band to LoPresti and Matt Schumacher; Choral Music to Finocchiaro and Eric Ihloff; Family and Consumer Science to Kaysa Lombard and Maddie Grover-Miller; Fitness to Alex Goyette; Graphic Arts to Julia Appleyard and Ryan Mullen; Industrial Arts to Alex Goyette; Physical Education to Ryan Young; Theater to Conor Jowett and Finocchiaro; Ventures went to Laura Griffin and Alex Goyette.
The Coaches Award went to Kaylee Connolly and Alex Loeffler; and Scholar Athlete Awards went to Zachary Bedard, Alyssa Felder, Maddie Hayden, Mitchell Heidler, Zack Hudgins, Conor Jowett and Noah Woodman.
