CHESTER – From 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday, May 10, Chester residents can dispose of their household hazardous waste in Plaistow.
Chester works together with Plaistow, Atkinson, Danville and Kingston for regular disposal days. Proof of residency is required.
The collection takes place at the New Plaistow Recreation Field on 51 Old County Road in Plaistow.
Each household has a 10 gallon or equivalent limit. For a full list of what the site will accept, visit www.chesternh.org or contact the town hall. Acceptable products include kitchen/bathroom supplies like aerosol cans, bug sprays, cleaning products, disinfectants and batteries; garage/workshop materials like old gasoline, oil, various automobile fluids, paint thinner and antifreeze; garden and miscellaneous items like gun cleaning solvents, chemicals used on lawns like pesticides and herbicides, fiberglass epoxy, artist’s paints, moth balls etc.
What isn’t allowed: latex paint, gas (propane) cylinders, explosive materials, ammunition, radioactive items, medical wastes, infectious or biological wastes, prescription medicines/syringes, smoke detectors, commercial wastes, fire extinguishers and unknown materials.
