HAMPSTEAD – The Hampstead Special Education Community Network is the new name for the Hampstead Special Education Parent Group, a parent-led organization sponsored by the Hampstead Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA).
The organization will continue to provide speakers and information regarding resources and events of importance to this group of parents. It is designed to serve the special education community by providing a positive and collaborative forum for the exchange of information.
According to one of the founders, Michelle Grimm, the subtle change in the name better reflects what the group is and what it does. She noted that the organization is designed to serve the special education community, not just parents.
Group objectives are: to provide a support network for families of special education students; to provide a forum to discuss topics of interest in special education and sponsor workshops and trainings for families, schools and the community in identified areas of interest; and to provide resources and funds for parent-sponsored activities.
